Mount Claremont Farmers’ Market is successfully run by the Mount Claremont Primary School P&C Association. All profits are used for the benefit of the children at the school. It all started in 2007 with just a handful of stalls and quickly grew in popularity. Awarded the Premier’s Australia Day Active Citizenship Award by the City of Nedlands, the Market was recognised for ‘providing fresh local produce and a meeting place for the local community to connect’.
The Market now has up to 55 stalls each week and is governed by a Charter that ensures high quality, predominantly grower direct and artisan products. Many locals visit the Market to do their weekly shop and enjoy a coffee/breakfast catch-up with friends. Trading hours are 7.30am to 11.30am and the Market operates every Saturday morning on the school grounds, with the exception of one or two Saturdays after Christmas.
Parking is available for over 350 cars for a voluntary gold coin donation. These proceeds are used to maintain the school grounds and are also regularly donated to charities and local community groups. The Market enjoys a strong link with the school community and the participation by a large number of parent and student volunteers fosters positive community values, both at the school and in the local community.
We are very proud of this asset and are extremely grateful to everyone involved.
If you would like to volunteer for a parking shift at the Market, please speak with your class representative or contact the Market Parking Coordinator via the P&C email: mtclaremontpc@gmail.com
